Sony's high-quality 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor captures every detail of your scene with remarkable accuracy. Its 24.3MP resolution (approx.) is ideal for gallery-quality stunning large-format prints. Razor-sharp alignment of the sensor and optical components brings out the full potential of the lens to the very edges of your photos.

Focus on the details.
Carl Zeiss® lens expertise meets Sony optical precision in a sophisticated large-aperture lens offering remarkable brightness reminiscent of the sun. The design of this lens includes a slim advanced aspherical (AA) lens element of micro precision that delivers stunning image sharpness and brightness while contributing to a short lens barrel.

High-fidelity image processing engine.
From vivid colors to smooth skin tones, every nuance of your scene is reproduced throughout an extremely wide dynamic range with BIONZ® image processing engine. Even processor-intensive tasks are handled with speed and precision, including 5 fps continuous shooting at full 24.3 effective megapixel resolution, 14-bit RAW and high ISO shooting.

Ultimate resolution.
The DSC-RX1R is a special edition of the RX1 allowing you to take full advantage of the sensor's capabilities. The optical low-pass (anti-aliasing) filter has been removed from the RX1R, allowing the full resolution of the sensor to be achieved without compromise. This results in resolution and sharpness when image details matter.

The fusion of form and function.
Only Sony could combine a bright f/2 lens, 35mm full-frame sensor, and a magnesium alloy case into one stylish, durable and compact package. The RX1 / RX1R is not only a genuine milestone in camera design, but also a mosaic of precision-balanced features crafted to enhance ease of use and extend the pleasure of ownership.

Get closer than ever.
Capture the smallest detail with the 7-3/4" (20cm) minimum focus of the RX1R, and do it without a protruding lens. Direct Manual Focus (DMF), Manual Focus (MF), MF Assist, and the peaking function combined with the optional FDA-EV1MK electronic viewfinder (sold separately) give you the ultimate freedom to create almost any shot you desire.

A perfect circle for beautiful bokeh.
Nine aperture blades form a nearly perfectly round diaphragm opening throughout the most commonly used aperture range of f/2.0 to f/11, making your foreground and background defocusing smooth and subtle, and creamy.

Amazing low-light performance.
Multi Frame NR automatically composites six images taken continuously at high speed to enhance noise reduction. The extremely clear results allow usage of higher sensitivity settings — up to a maximum ISO 102400, the highest in any compact digital camera. Multi Frame NR is compatible with all ISO settings and all P/A/S/M modes (Auto, Aperture priority, Shutter speed priority and Manual modes), allowing you to prioritize the shutter speed or aperture when desired while ensuring stunningly clear results.

Record Full HD movies in 60p or cinematic 24p.
See your movies like never before. The RX1R records in Full HD at 60 fps for super smooth playback, 24 fps to create a more cinematic look, or other frame rates for different effects. Full-time continuous auto focus ensures clear results even when shooting fast-moving subjects.

A range of exposure options.
The RX1 / RX1R's highly sensitive 35mm full-frame sensor, bright lens with maximum f/2 aperture, and sophisticated image processing technology create an amazing ISO 100 to 25600 range for ultimate exposure control. Sensitivity can also extend downward to ISO 50, but the recordable dynamic range narrows below ISO 100.

Never miss a magic moment again.
Life goes by pretty fast. A fraction of a second can mean the difference between art and awful. That's why the RX1R can capture 5 pictures per second, making every moment a magic one.

Lifelike LCD preview.
The Xtra Fine LCD featuring WhiteMagic™ brightens whites and darkens blacks to recreate your scene on the 3.0-type (7.5cm) 1,229k-dot display. Anti-reflection technology eliminates glares even outside, and an illumination sensor optimizes the screen for ideal display. The effective displayable resolution is equivalent to VGA (640 x 480).

Fine tune your focus with MF Assist.
The MF Assist enlarges your shot on the preview screen up to 11.7x when you focus by hand. The Peaking function highlights the sharpest in-focus areas of your image — even when not using MF Assist — to clearly show what is focused.

Banish lens distortion forever.
The RX1 / RX1R automatically compensates for peripheral shading, chromatic aberration and distortion characteristics of the lens. Don't worry though, you always have ultimate control over your shot and can disable it any time you like.
