Uudsed funktsioonid ja täiustused pakuvad uusi kasutusvõimalusi seal, kus vajatakse teisaldatavust, ühenduvust ja paremat pildi kvaliteeti. Nüüd võimaldab Cat S61 ka sõiduki diagnostikat, asfaldi seiret ja kõrgema temperatuuriga seadmestiku jälgimist. Endiselt saab kasutada Cati soojuskaamerat soojuskao tuvastamises akende ja uste ümbruses, niiskuslaikude ja isolatsiooni puudumise ning ülekuumenenud elektriseadmete ja ülekoormatud vooluahela avastamises, samuti täielikus pimeduses või läbi kerge udu ja suitsu nägemises. Cat S61 on varustatud ka uue MyFlir® rakendusega. Uued nõutud funktsioonid, nagu soojuspildi otsestriimimine, seadme kaudu edastatavad nõuanded ja nipid ning Community Forum, aitavad kasutajatel võtta välja viimast S61 termopildistamise võimalustest. Cat S61 eristub sisseehitatud FLIR-i termokaameraga, mis tänu võimsamale tarkvarale tagab suurema pildi kontrastsuse, temperatuuri tajumise kuni 400 °C kraadini ja kõrgeraldusega pildi kvaliteedi, mis võimaldab võrratut pildi optimeerimist FLIR-i MSX® tehnoloogiat kasutades. Cat S61 sisaldab ka siseruumi õhu kvaliteedi andurit Sensirionilt, et hoiatada kasutajaid õhu saasteainete (lenduvate orgaaniliste ühendite ehk LOÜ) kõrgest tasemest nende töökeskkonnas. Üldteada LOÜ-de allikad on värvid, lahustid, põrandakatted, mööbel ja puhastustooted, mida kõike esineb tavaliselt Cat telefoni kasutajate puhul tüüpilistes töökeskkondades. Cat S61 jälgib siseruumi õhu kvaliteedi tasemeid ja teavitab kasutajaid ebatervisliku keskkonna tuvastamisel, võimaldades teha neil õigeaegselt otsuseid, nagu akna avamine ventilatsiooni tõhustamiseks või vaheaja tegemine. Andur annab ka niiskuse ja hetke temperatuuri näidu.Peale selle on Cat S61 varustatud lasermõõtjaga, mis mõõdab kuni 10 meetri pikkust punktidevahelist kaugust, seejärel arvutab pindala ning lülitub ümber meetermõõdustiku ja inglise mõõdustiku ühikute vahel. Kõik andmed salvestatakse kujutises, seega saab kasutada alternatiivset mõõtmistulemust või teha korrigeerimisi tööobjektile tagasi minemata. Cat telefonide kliendid väärtustavad nende funktsioonide kombinatsiooni väga kõrgelt. Näiteks, elektrikud kasutavad termopildistamist sulavkaitsme karbi või juhtmestikusüsteemi analüüsimiseks ja laserkaugusmõõtjat töö jaoks vajaliku kaabli pikkuse arvutamiseks. Samuti saavad nad reaalajas pildi edastada vajadusel kolleegidele, et nende käest nõu küsida.
