Datacolor LightColor Meter

The Datacolor LightColor Meter takes the guesswork out of your camera's exposure settings. The wireless, Bluetooth-connected meter measures all types of lighting and colour temperature and transmits the data in real time to your smartphone (iOS/Android) via the free Datacolor LightColor Meter app. This saves time when setting up on set and during post-production.

Better than your in-camera meter
Why measure manually instead of simply relying on your in-camera meter? Your in-camera meter uses object metering, which measures the light reflected from the subject to the camera. With the LightColor meter, you can measure both the direct light falling on a subject and the scattered light, so the measurements are independent of the subject's reflectance. This is particularly helpful when shooting subjects with high contrast.
The object measurement in your camera's internal light meter provides an exposure average. In high-contrast shots, e.g. with a very dark or light background, this exposure average can result in the subject appearing either underexposed or overexposed. The LightColor Meter provides you with more precise exposure data for better exposure and creative control.
